She found fame and appeared in a show in Broadway known as The Widow Jones. This is when she was discovered by Thomas A. Edison and John C. Rise, her co-star. Edison hired Irwin to do the same scene in one of his films that were entitled “The Kiss”. This is the very first kiss in cinematic history. After she participated in this milestone moment in history, she continued to be a famous performer and has appeared in another film in 1914.
